Life hacks for the kitchen

23 Mar 2015

With Spring very much on our minds, we’re starting to think about a bit of spring cleaning and these are a few of our favourite life hacks or DIY tips we found on Pinterest for the kitchen.

1. Shiny new pans

An inch of boiling water and a big scoop of baking soda can clean the bottom of pans that the dishwasher can’t reach. Get those favourite pans back to their shiny new state.

2. Plastic pipe wine storage

Contemporary wine storage can be expensive, especially if you want it to fit a particular space and require something bespoke. This solution uses cheap plastic pipes. Not only do they look good, but you can custom fit the rack for shelves or fit in between cupboard space. Can also be used in the fridge to store white wine more efficiently.

3. Utilise inside door space on cupboards

When shelf and cupboard space is in short supply, here are a few ideas to utilise the inside of doors for saucepan lids, foils and cleaning products.

A shoe rack to store cleaning products is a great idea, plus it can keep harmful products away from children if kept at the top.

Pinning cardboard bag boxes to the inside of doors can save a bit of drawer space or using a file folder for films and foils

4. Organise your kitchen drawers

If you’re always scrabbling around in drawers for that right lid to the Tupperware box, then this might help as it keeps them all much more accessible. Alternatively you can use dowelling or draw dividers to help store baking trays and saucepan lids on their sides rather than flat saving space in deep drawers.

5. Cool jar labels

Lots of us use flip top jars to keep flour and sugar clean and fresh, but these downloaded jar labels will make them look much more stylish.
