Up to 35% of the plastic polluting our oceans is from laundering synthetic clothing
Polyester and acrylic are made from crude oil. Even recycled synthetics use huge amounts of energy to recycle them.
We believe there is a better way. A natural way.
As more and more brands turn to manmade fibres to reduce costs and make cheaper clothes, we have pledged to use only natural yarns that are kinder to you and the planet. Lower impact, ethically sound and plastic-free.
Go natural for a more sustainable lifestyle.
Woolovers is certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), which certifies wool from the source to the final product.
The purchase of Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified products demonstrates demand for better animal welfare practices and responsible land management in the wool supply chain.
Look out for the RWS swing ticket on your favourite certified wool styles.
All our 100% cashmere styles are made from SFA (Sustainable Fibre Alliance) certified yarns.
The SFA ensure the adoption of responsible production practices throughout the entire cashmere supply chain.
They monitor the welfare of herders, their goats and land to minimise the risk of pasture degradation and protect wildlife.
Their initiative ensures a chain of custody for traders, processors, manufacturers, brands and retailers, limiting the environmental impact of cashmere production.
Most people don’t realise that viscose is a natural yarn, made from wood pulp.
We aim to use viscose derived from fast-growing, low water consumption bamboo where possible.
Many of our viscose styles are made using eco-certified viscose.
This ensures the pulp used is only obtained from certified renewable sources and that all processes used are eco-responsible.
Our EcoVero, created by Lenzing results in 50% less CO2 emissions and 50% less water waste (water is cleaned & returned to nature.) (2)
Our pure linen is made from the flax plant, a natural fibre that has been used for thousands of years.
Garments made using flax have been found that date back as far as 36,000 years (3).
Incredibly versatile, flax seeds can be used for wallpaper, cosmetics, bedding, paint and even roof insulation. It has an extremely low environmental impact, with almost zero waste, needing less water than cotton and using no pesticides in the growing process.
Every part of the wonderful flaxseed can be used in some way and is a completely biodegradable.
It takes 2,700 litres of water to produce enough conventional cotton for just one t-shirt.
By comparison, organic cotton only uses 243 litres (4).
Our organic farmers use only natural methods to grow their cotton. No nasty pesticides or fertilisers are used.
Traditional crop rotation techniques and the banned use of toxins reduces health risks to workers, protects precious waterways and produces healthier soil. This healthy soil acts like a sponge, retaining water for longer.
We aim to move all our cotton styles to organic cotton.
Since 1989 we have been producing the softest cashmere, the comfiest cotton and the finest merino wool.
We are experts in natural yarns.
We believe natural fibres are truly sustainable and ethically sound.
Naturally hygroscopic, they are also better to wear, keeping you warm in winter and cool in the summer months.
