YAY – another bank holiday! A few suggestions on how to get out with the family, stay in with your loved one of just make the most of the extra days holiday this weekend.
We love eating al fresco. Don’t wait for a big occasion to fire up the BBQ or get out the picnic blanket… even if it’s just the two of you, having a drink and a bite to eat in the park is a great and cheap way to get out the house and have a change of scenery.
So don’t worry about making that fancy quiche or how you’ll keep the beers cold, just grab a couple of sandwiches and cakes from the nearest shop and a bottle of red wine and enjoy.

While it may still be a little chilly to take a dip, don’t wait for the summer sun before you hit the beach.
The great thing about living in the UK is you’re never very far from the sea, but normally we wait until the summer before we go and battle the crowds of people, that all had the same idea. The Spring bank holiday may be a good opportunity to feel a bit of sand (or pebbles) under your feet, before the busy summer holidays hit… so warm up with fish and chips and a cuppa on the picnic blanket instead.
Don’t forget to pack your Wool Overs cardigan for when it gets chilly!

If we’re not looking at stuff on our phones, we’re on the TV or the home computer, as screens are now a fundamental part of our living and working lives. However, why not ask the whole family (all the teenagers groan…) to have a whole day or be brave and suggest a whole weekend without looking at our screens?
Dig out some old CDs, get the family involved with some games or get outside and take a road trip or bike trip somewhere (satnav screen excluded).
How many times have you been driving around and said to your partner/self… “that place looks nice!”. Well, go there! Get on Google or post a question on Facebook saying that you’re looking to try a new pub or restaurant this weekend and see what your friends recommend. The only qualification is that you can’t have been there before – it’s all about trying something new.
We put loads of effort into a dinner party. The whole day can be spent cooking and preparing, to have a lovely evening of child-free chat with friends and posh food. But why not have a posh family dinner party?
Get out the posh china, and ask three members of the family to choose a starter, main or pudding to cook themselves – and don’t forget somebody has to lay the table. Then put on your glam clothes and sit down and eat together and celebrate the bank holiday. You could even take on a Come Dine with Me challenge and score each course out of 10?
Have a great bank holiday from Wool Overs!
