“Get Lippy” with The Eve Appeal and WoolOvers

30 Apr 2019

Every day, 58 women in the UK find out they have some form of gynaecological cancer. Of those 58, 21 of them will die within five years of their diagnosis.

Though roughly half of all people in the UK will develop cancer in their lifetime, the conversation about gynaecological cancers tends to fall by the wayside, simply because vaginas are considered an “uncomfortable” topic by society.

For generations, these outdated social pressures on women to avoid the topic of gynaecological health has kept them in the dark about the early signs of cancers and led to late diagnoses. Rootless taboos have made some girls and women so afraid of words like “vulva” and “vagina” that they’ll avoid seeking the medical attention that could potentially save their life.

Like many of you, we at WoolOvers think that this has been going on for far too long! That’s why we’re working with The Eve Appeal* in the Get Lippy Campaign to help tear down taboos, encourage a dialogue about women’s health, address difficult questions, and raise money for cancer research that could one day beat gynaecological cancer once and for all.

WoolOvers, along with a number of other brands including Tesco, Nivea, CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women**), and Harvey Nichols, will be taking part in this unique campaign running throughout May.

From the 1st to the 31st, 10% of sales from our Women’s Cashmere and Merino Classic Crew Neck Cardigan in Fuchsia Pink will be donated to the Eve Appeal’s commendable and vital research.

Everyone at WoolOvers HQ will also be donning their brightest lipstick for a Get Lippy Day photoshoot on the 17th of May!

With the help of The Eve Appeal, its corporate partners, and everyone else who takes part in the campaign, we hope to make a real, positive difference to gynaecological cancer research and treatment for decades to come.

*The Eve Appeal is the only UK national charity raising awareness and funding research in the five gynaecological cancers – ovarian, womb, cervical, vaginal and vulval.

**Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) is the leading organisation for women and men working in the beauty industry in the UK. They lead the conversation in beauty, addressing topics that are shaping the future of the industry.
