Valentine’s treats without leaving the house

10 Feb 2016

Valentine’s Day is an odd one. You don’t want to go out as the restaurants are full of cheesy couples and it’s all a bit expensive and embarrassing, but you also want to do something to mark the day and show there’s still romance!

Here are a few ideas of how you can do something special at home or treat your beloved to a little gift without having to leave the house or go overboard.

Run a bath and glass of bubbles

If your wife or husband is a busy parent, then the biggest treat might just be some time on their own to properly relax. You don’t have to treat them to a spa to feel special, I’m sure they’ll be much more touched if you organise something for them. So put some music on, run a bath and open some bubbles and suggest they have a couple of hours all to themselves while you feed the kids.

Memory meal

Does your partner often talk about how much they loved their mum’s Shepard’s Pie, the three course dinner you had for your wedding or your first date? Take a trip down memory lane and cook a meal that’s special to you both or your partner. Even if it’s not the same as mum used to make, they’re sure to appreciate the effort.

Movie night

Most people have a favourite film, whether from childhood or something more recent. We don’t always get the chance to watch it, as our favourite film tastes might not be shared by the rest of the family. So dim the lights, make fresh popcorn, open a few beers and dedicate a couple of hours to watching it again and without any distractions.

Romantic Treasure Hunt

Why not leave little messages around the house and directions on where the next message is. These can be reasons why you love them, memories from your life together or just little things you will do to help make their life easier, such as cooking dinner for a week or ironing 10 of their shirts.

If you’re still not sure and think a gift would be better than how about some red knitwear?
