Nice things for mum

25 Feb 2016

Whatever you decide to do, whether it be treating your mum to something special or your children doing something nice for you, we hope you have a special day.

Flowers and chocolates are lovely, but if you wanted to do something a little different this year we have a few suggestions that she’s bound to love.

Memory notes

No matter how old your mum is, she will appreciate this. Buy a notebook and every few pages write down a memory that you share or something you are grateful for. Alternatively, put the little notes around the house, so as she goes through her day she will be reminded of how much you love her.

Mother’s Day in a jar

This is a really nice idea for mum from Hello Splendid. Choose some of her favourite things, from her favourite lip balm to her favourite chocolates and put them all in a box or jar. All sorts of stuff could go in, wine miniatures are a nice touch or if you’re feeling thrifty you could go to a beauty shop and ask for some samples to include as well.

Her favourite shop vouchers

What do you mean her favourite shop isn’t Wool Overs? Well, we hope it is and even if she’s not familiar with Wool Overs, we bet she’ll love our super soft woollens. Our gift vouchers are valid for two years and can be posted or used as instant e-vouchers, so even if you have left it till the last minute, you still have time to surprise her on Sunday morning.

A day of your time

If your mum is elderly and sometimes it’s hard to juggle spending quality time with her over the kids, then why not ask for your husband to look after the kids so you can spend some quality time with her. Take her out for lunch or just help with some simple chores around the house or garden that you’re not normally able to do, as you’re so busy.

Alternatively get the kids involved, you could have one on tea duty, one on back massaging and you ready with the sherry!

Plant a tree

Buying a plant or the gift of a young tree will be a lovely addition to most gardens. If you like plants with symbolism then a jasmine means Love, dahlias mean elegance and dignity or a dark pink rose means gratitude.

We wish all the mums a big Happy Mother’s Day for next weekend from Wool Overs…
