Knit your own hat

02 Nov 2014

We are very proud of our wool heritage at Wool Overs and generally love all things woolly. So what better way to embrace the darker evenings and chilly days than sitting in front of the telly knitting for yourself or a loved one a new hat. So here are a few of our favourite knitting patterns that can all be downloaded online, most are free but the most expensive is only £3.50.

Adult hats

Slouchy button hat

A super bulky yarn makes this hat look really soft and cosy and we particularly love this peachy oatmeal colour.

14 cable hat

This hat uses Alpaca wool for texture and has a thick rim so it’s extra warm for those wintry walks. You knit it in one tube and then bring all the edges together at the end, could be for a man or woman… or matching!

Taboggan Garter Stitch Bobble Hat

The Taboggan stitch makes these a relatively easy hat to knit and the classic bobble on top adds character. This is available in lots of different sizes for men and women – a classic that would make an every day hat for those chilly mornings waiting for the bus.

Aviator hat

Keep their ears nice and cosy with this lovely aviator hat, we especially like the big round wooden buttons. We’d make this a little too big and then they’ll have it for a few years.
