A modern twist on the chunky coatigan that looks both stylish for the city or great to keep you warm on those long walks in the country. The chunky wool cables are complimented by a lattice stitch design on the collar, cuff and pockets. The High funnel neck has two horn buttons and a further three buttons on the placket which finishes at the waistline to give the garment that elegant relaxed silhouette. Don't trust your detergent!

We want your WoolOvers to last just as much as you do (we have our reputation to uphold!) so here is our guide to prolonging the life of your knitwear. Follow these steps and your garments should last for years to come!

Quick summary:

All of our fabrics are a blend of natural protein fibres and knitted from machine-washable yarn. Wash them on a wool program, using a non-bio detergent at a maximum spin speed of 600 rpm.

Why non-bio?

Many biological detergents contain wool-eating enzymes. Never use biological detergents or stain removers on Wool, Silk or Cashmere fibres because the enzymes will literally digest the fabric and you may end up with unsightly holes!

Are all non-bios fine to use?

Afraid not. Those that contain bleach will lead to progressive fading and may weaken the fabric, again leading to holes.

What products do you recommend?

Wool and natural fibre detergents are available at all supermarkets. Many sell Woolmark-approved own brand products. Other good brands include Dreft, Persil Silk and Wool, Woolite, Stergene and Ecover Wool Wash.

So I definitely don't need to hand wash?

Most of our knitwear is machine washable, there are some newer styles that are hand wash only. Please see wash label for washing instructions.

REMEMBER: to increase the life of your WoolOvers, use a slow spin (600 rpm or less) and a low temperature (30° max.) to avoid stretching, shrinking and matting of the fibres.

What about drying?

Our cotton blends will be fine in your tumble dryer, but avoid direct heat on the woollens. These should be reshaped and allowed to dry naturally.

TIP: Keep them supported to maintain their shape, a broad banister can be ideal, or simply lay flat, ensuring you rotate it.

I ordered this item for my grandma. She loved it, it is warm, breathable, comfortable. Being pure wool, it has a firm consistency, not that overly soft sponge feel of acryl, nevertheless it has a good touch, and it is not itchy.

I had some doubt about these cardigans as they are made of pure wool which I knew I was sensitive to sometimes even over another layer of clothing. Couldn't decide which colourway so ordered two (in sale, which was a really great price for what it is!) - the country twist and charcoal, which goes with everything and isn't as dark as black. I kept both! I was truly surprised and amazed that I can bear the wool even next to my skin (neck...) knowing it is a wool and not some sharp edged label or something. Those, by the way, I need to keep removing from everything, including WoolOvers items - please could you use soft woven cotton labels instead?
The cardigans washed well, retain the shape whilst being worn again, keep warm without overheating, look and fit great and have pockets!
The Charcoal and other colours from newer production have nicer knitted pattern (generally) and better designed collar - than the Country twist. Country twist is such a nice combo of shades - I think you should bring it back!
After these, I realized that even wool like this (not just merino which is softer, lighter and not itchy, or lambswool, which too is still softer and more bearable than pure wool) as being a natural fibre is far better than modern synthetic 'functional' textiles...warm, without overheating, and breathable... and of course, natural. I'm a new wool-lover!!
